I recently sold a home on Thompson Road in Lexington’s Pepper District to a wonderful couple that had been looking for a few months. I had discovered the home online, listed as For Sale by Owner, which may explain why this gem was still on the market.

When they saw the home, it was love at first sight. Anyone that has bought a home knows exactly what I’m talking about – you just know! You start imagining your furniture in the rooms, what color you want the kitchen, what those floors under the carpet will look like. Thompson Road was a match.

The home is a beautiful 1920’s era bungalow with a large basement and loft area upstairs, perfect for a master suite. The former owner had installed new carpet in the home, which of course, was immediately torn up! Under the carpet, the original hardwoods were revealed – and in good shape!

One of the best features of the property was the huge, fenced backyard. I still call it downtown Lexington’s best backyard! The previous owner had taken meticulous care of the yard, which had lovely trees, honeysuckle bushes and perennials.

The residents are lucky enough to be just a short walk down the street to all the wonderful businesses located on the Pepper Campus, like Crank and Boom, Middle Fork Kitchen Bar, and Ethereal Brewing. They can also walk to Rupp Arena and avoid nightmare parking on game nights! On a bike, these folks can be anywhere in downtown Lexington in less than 10 minutes.

If you are looking for a lovely home close to downtown, the Pepper District may be a great place for you! The Kentucky Home Team has a passion for this new neighborhood and we would love to help!
